LIST OF INSTRUCTIONS FOR SCREENINGS VENUES - First step, find a suitable location. Libraries are best, also colleges that usually have state of the art video theaters (not lecture halls). Look at anywhere from 50 to 200 seats, check for decent parking. PROJECTOR - We use a BENQ model PB6100 which is the less expensive of available projectors and puts out a top-notch image. Rentals may run from $50 to $200 per night. A screen may be needed and size depends on hall capacity. Screens usually rent for $25. OR if small enough venue, you can use a TV (30" or better) with a DVD player. Your discretion. MEDIA - Good media support is a must, otherwise you are handicapped. The audience is there, they just need to find out about it. Press with crop circle pictures in a feature article packs them in. Live TV and radio interviews help a lot. The first 2 minutes of Star Dreams works as a TV promo. What you have is a controversial subject and provocative ideas to sell which makes good copy with a lot of audience interest. This is free publicity. Newspaper ads dont work too well I find, and are rather expensive. Find out press deadlines, monthlies, weeklies and dailies. "What's on" or "Events" arts magazines or internet sites are good bets. POSTERS - Generally they don't work too well but we put them up anyway. Suggest larger than 8x11 and a few spots like libraries, new age book stores, crystal shops etc. Email lists and phone trees work well as word of mouth. Check spiritual groups. SELL THROUGHS - We would appreciate downloading order forms or giving audience the option of checking out purchase of DVD's and VHS tapes off our web site. OR We give you the option of selling them if your purchase in advance for a 40% discount off retail price. www.stardreams-cropcircles.com TICKETS - Generally, selling tickets through outlets is a bit of a burden, your choice here. We advertise tickets at the door - $10 adults, $8 for seniors and students, or what the market will bear. SUPPORT - Students or volunteers can put up posters for a free show and various organizations of interest might be student unions, film societies (possible split revenue) and spiritual groups. Local Chambers of Commerce help with media lists, venues etc. Extra $ can be made by selling coffee/tea/pastries but since there is no intermission this would have to work mainly before the show. I would like to recommend organic foodstuffs. When setting up your mini-campaign here is a good axiom to follow: Keep on top of everybody, all the time, about everything. I've learned the hard way. Good luck and thanks. Robert L. Nichol Producer/Director
